About Corsair Blue Jazz Orchestra

The founders of the CBJO played together at Manheim Township High School in one of the leading music programs in Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1978. On a cold November evening in 2013 this group of friends made the decision to form the “Corsair Blue Jazz Orchestra”, a twenty piece big band that became a Pennsylvania non‐profit organization on April 9th 2014, and a 501 C 3 as of June 18, 2015. CBJO was founded to perform Big Band Swing Music for the Veterans, seniors and the communities of Central Pennsylvania.

The heart and soul of the band continues to consist of musicians who are retirees, educators, students, Veterans of the United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force and United States Navy and people with a love for popular Big Band music.

CBJO’s director and co‐founder has an absolute passion for big band jazz, and strives for performance excellence by being as true to the original music as performed by Miller, Dorsey, Basie and others, as possible, and has been able to impart that passion to the band.

2016 was a wonderful season. CBJO opened strong at the Highland Arts Festival in March and didn’t look back. We had a terrific time performing for our Veterans at VAMC Lebanon with the American Bombshells, at VAMC Coatesville as well as for our Veterans at the Trinity EC Veterans Day Luncheon in Lititz. The Veritas Press Academy USO themed event was a patriotic extravaganza with over 300 dancing the night away to the music of the “Greatest Generation”. We returned to Landis Woods for the “Feat in the Heat” in August for a great event, and had very nice community oriented concerts at St Johns UCC and Denver Memorial Park during the summer. We performed at Highland on September 11th, and probably played our most memorable piece of music to date, “Amazing Grace”, combining CBJO, under the Direction of Lon Prosser, with the Highland Choir under the Direction of Kevin Estes.

2017 is going to be an unforgettable season, closing at the Willow Valley Cultural Center for Veterans Day 2017 featuring CBJO and America’s Sweethearts.

We hope to see YOU in 2017!
